What are your Gardening Resolutions for 2012?

Here are some ideas:
Be more selective (don’t buy every new plant you see)
Pay more attention (proactive attention to your plants instead of reactive)
Label your plants
Start seeds
Learn more
Weed each day (or early and often)
Draw it out (draw a plan of your dream garden)
Keep a garden journal
Go from synthetic to natural
Clean and sharpen gardening tools
Get organized – clean garage or wherever you keep gardening tools & supplies
Reduce lawn space
Try a raised bed
Give-up on plants that you know will not survive
Visit more gardens for inspiration
• Adena Mansion & Gardens, Chillicothe
• Crown Conservatory, Cincinnati
• Franklin Conservatory, Columbus
• Lilly Estate at Indianapolis Museum of Art
Downsize
Don’t buy one of anything – 3-5 for “wow” groupings
Compost
Divide the hostas (and/or other plants)
Buy from the local market
Use native plants
Take more pictures in the garden
Accept the fact that the garden will always change – plants grow, plants die,
storms change things…
Set out a “Welcome Mat” – food, water and shelter for habitat
And last, remember to enjoy life with your plants!
